The ColecoVision was Coleco industries second foray into the home video game console market. It was released in August of 1982 and by the holiday season of that year had sold around 500,000 systems. *1 Sales Steadily increased until the fall of 1983 eventually reaching over 1 million systems sold. Overall sales of the Colecovision are unclear but it is likely over 2 million total. However by October 1985 Coleco and the ColecoVision had withdrawn from the market officially. *2
